There is just one question
To which liars will respond
They will say the nature of man
Is sinful and wrought with shame
They teach the young and old
That they are not worthy of their gifts
But it is your father who has sinned
I seek the truth of truths
Untainted by your dogma
And with a simple question
A journey of disbelief begins
I deny the words that command self-hatred
I revoke the oaths of years gone by
The time for blame and doubt is over
I see the words for what they truly are
Feeble tales written by mere mortals
Perverted for their own twisted ends
Regardless of denomination
The cults of the mind are equally tainted
The misery and the burden
Of a life without faith
Is exceeded by the knowledge gained
Of the wretched human race
I revive the lore of the ancient ways
I invoke reason as the light of the mind
There is no need for hatred in my words
I seek to live freed from your foolish fate
Liberated are the strong of will
No longer servants to men or gods
This is the first step of many to come
The time of discovery has just begun
The misery and the burden
Of a life without faith
Is exceeded by the knowledge gained
Of the wretched human race
I see no final destination
I do not fear the return to soil and dust
I await my withering days without apprehension
My senses are illuminated as never before
And still there is no presence that I fail to heed
Let go of your trepidation
Silence the shrill voice of your creed forever.
